Wine, Women & Art with Artist Andrea Oswald

At your “Girl’s Night Out,” you’ll spend a fun evening with friends, creating a piece of art to take home, while enjoying a glass of wine or two, and some tasty treats! Get step-by-step instructions as you create a set of lovely hand-painted glasses – for yourself or to give as a gift. Includes all art supplies plus the wine and goodies. All experience levels welcome.

Mono-Printing with Gelli-Plate – with Paulette Krakowski

Dates: Tuesday, August 21 & 28 , 2018

Time: 11a.m. – 2 p.m.

Cost: $45.

        Monotype is a form of printmaking that has lines or images that can only be made once, unlike most printmaking, which allows for multiple originals.

   It’s a simple process that allows for lots of experimentation and variation.  The artist can create layered prints, use objects as masks between plate and paper or selectively apply pressure to create a trace monotype.  After the first print is pulled, there will be some ink left on the plate for a second, fainter ghost print.

Supply List: gelli plate, acrylic gel gloss, brayer, baby wipes, brushes, paper (rice paper, Masa paper, Stonhenge pads 11×14 or 16×20 hot press – smooth, no tooth)

Acrylic paints: Golden Open Acrylics – white Titanium, Quinacdone Nickel Azo Gold Quinacidone Magenta & Pthalo Blue (green shade).


Acrylic Painting  – with Bernice Smith

Dates: Tuesday, September 4, 11, 18 and 25, 2018
Time: 6:30to 8:30 pm
Cost: $80.
Description: Great evening for learning techniques, tips, and supportive critiques.  Open to beginner to advanced students – bring highly contrasting photo reference, acrylic paints, brushes, paper towels, substrate (canvas, canvas board, panel boards).


Bean Pot – Basket with Maureen Quale

Dates: Wednesday, September 12, 2018
Time: 6:00 to 9:00 pm
Cost: $40.
Description: The Bean Pot Basket is a classic basket created with twine base. Continuous weaving so it goes quick! Fill with fruit or dried flowers, eggs, or hang from a peg for a “country accent.”  Medium basket with a metal handle with a wooden bail.  Top diameter is approximately 7 “.


Zentangle Holiday Card classes (1-4 sessions) –  with CZT artist Kelly Barone

Dates: Wednesdays, September 19, 2018   (Oct. 24, Nov. 14, Dec. 5)  
Time: 6:00 to 9:00 pm
Cost: $25.or $90 for all 4 sessions!!
Description:The Holidays will be here before you know it.  Join Kelly this fall for a series of card classes.  We will make a tangled greeting card at each class, which would also be suitable for framing or gift giving.  (Zentangle 101 class encouraged but not required) for the first class.


Learn Bead Embroidery with Jewelry artist Lisa Ballowe

Date: Saturday, September 29, 2018

Time: 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Cost $55.00  

Lab Fee paid to Instructor: $15.00 kit

Description: This is a great beginner class that will teach you how to make a beautiful pendant by sewing beads around a cabochon.  Your choice of 3 color combinations.  No prior experience is necessary.  Students will leave with a completed pendant.  This class will help in creating the foundation for future bead embroidery classes.

The materials kit fee is not included in the cost of tuition.  This fee is due to the instructor on the day of class.  The kit will include a cabochon glued to the beading medium, beads, thread, needle and instructions.  Students are highly recommended to bring magnification glasses and portable light.  Instructor will provide beading mats and glue which will remain with her after the class.

Instructor Lisa Ballowe is a self-taught award winning Artist.  She is a Juried Artist with the Arts and Craftsmen Guild.  She attends Beading Retreats regularly learning from world renowned bead embroidery teachers to constantly challenge herself and strengthen her beading skills.  She will also bring several pieces of her advanced work to inspire students to continue learning this relaxing and rewarding art form.

The history of beadwork goes back several thousand years and is frequently found on ceremonial clothing and robes found in archeological sites throughout Europe.  Archeologists studying African cultures have unearthed shells used as beads that date back over 72,000 years ago where they were used on clothing and accessories for ornamentation.  Native Americans are well known for their bead embroidery work and embroidery too.  Bead embroidery is still being used on clothing and accessories all over the world.
