“Painting with Paper Workshop” with Suzanne Borowicz

Saturdays, February 3, 10 & 17 , 2018

Time: 10 a.m. – 2 P.M>

Cost $120.00

In this workshop, we will use the method of painting with paper as taught by Elizabeth St. Hilaire.  This is a free flow, no stress, no mistake method of paper painting that will inspire your creativity beyond your class experience.  First, we will create beautiful hand painted collage papers to use for our painting.  Then we will paint, first with paint, then with paper to create a one of a kind piece of art.

One 10 x10 gessoed flat panel or cradle board (Canvas is not suitable for this method.)

One Gelli Plate any size

Golden Fluid Acrylic Paints in whatever colors you like to work with.  (Craft paint can be used to create the painted papers, but it tends to be opaque, and therefore, it is difficult to create translucent layers in the monoprinting.)

Liquitex Gloss Gel

Brushes for painting and a brush that will be used to apply the gloss gel

Papers – no magazine paper or printed newspaper.  Other than that, any paper can be used.

Examples: copy paper, deli paper, Art tissue paper, old book paper, maps etc.

Stencils if you have them (I will also provide stencils.)

Apron – this method is messy

Water container

A picture reference that focuses on one object.  I will provide a reference photo.  However, if you wish, you may work from your own reference.

“Wet-Felted Wool Bird House Pod” with Maureen Quale

Saturday, February 24, 2018

Time: 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Cost $68.00

Description:Wet Felted Bird Pod – Prepare your back yard for the return of nesting birds by creating a hanging felt bird pod. In this workshop we will be learning about the properties of wet felting. We will then use those techniques to create a wool vessel in the form of a hanging bird pod. Hand dyed wool and all necessary materials will be supplied for this workshop. Wet felting can get wet and soapy at times, and hand dyed wool can sometimes bleed dye because of the water temperature we are using. Please wear appropriate clothing, bring two old bath towels, and be prepared to have some ‘good clean fun’.

Felting can also be somewhat repetitive and labor intensive. Special felting tools will be available to try during class, to ensure success for everyone!
