About the Artists
Susie Kelly Flatau – Acrylics / Mixed Media
I am an explorer on this Life Path—a path imbued with color, movement, form and
inspiration found in our sacred and ordinary days. My works often begin with a
single word, a fraction of a thought, the first notes of a song, the glimpse of an idea.
They begin in one moment and then “ripple and circle” along a continuum of bold
color and movement and line. Even if my works start as representational sketches,
they soon morph into the spirit of the image. They evolve into abstractions through
the process of adding, subtracting, over‐painting, layering. My “paint brushes” of
choice are most often knives and spatulas and spoons and corks and any such
sundry objects. I understand the rules, but I give myself permission to break them.
Life IS good.
