About The Artists

Denise Capobianco

Denise is best known for her realistic portrayals of birds, wildlife and beloved

pets. Art has always been a been a part of Denise’s life and began with her passionate love

of horses. Growing up in the semi-rural areas of Holland and East Aurora, she developed a

fondness for animals and birds and channeled this love into sketching and painting as a

young girl. Her work derives from a life long appreciation and love for the beauty and

mystery of nature. “I find the ever changing colors, shapes and patterns found in animals

and nature to be an endless form of inspiration and wonder.”

Primarily self taught, and inspired by well known wildlife artists, she has studied with

other various area artists developing her own techniques and style. Having worked in

other media, Denise has found the detail, glazing and overall effects created with colored

pencil lends itself best to the results she desires in her work. Each new piece creates it’s

own challenges and inspires her to further pursue this medium.

Professionally, Denise was a commercial artist for 14 years, working as a graphic artist in

advertising as an illustrator and designing newspaper and print advertising for a local

company. She left the fast paced advertising world to raise her family. As her children grew

older, she began drawing again by taking a sketchbook along while at the park and pool

with her kids and eventually entered the art world again. Denise joined the East Aurora Art

Society and been an active member since 2003, chairing many exhibits and is a past

President of the group.
